Aux Port Not Working In Car

I know on my 07 4cyl my aux is able to swicth as soon as the cord is plug into the aux input, i use my iphone to listen to music and even if my phone isnt plug up and the aux cord is i am still able to switch to aux input, sounds to me like you radio isnt noticeing that the aux port has a cord pluged in.. I guess if your existing car stereo hasn’t any aux input it must be quite old or basic. Did you buy it at the dealer? I already know its not the wiring because when i listen to a CD it works fine, and if I push my aux cable up or down right next to the port it works fine also. Eventually I got the factory wiring diagram and rewired the aux input to match the factory wiring (switched the aux wires from going directly to the radio to going into the MDI unit instead).

Ok thinking the USB port was damaged somehow, i purchased an new adapter. If you just have a cable plugged in (even very well) but not connected to anything on the other side, (mp3, phone, Bluetooth adapter etc) it will still not work.
